Under a recent contract signed with the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Phuc has been assigned to train both the national squad and U23 team.

After the national squad was eliminated from the 2015 Asia Cup qualifiers, Phuc said the 27th SEA Games will be his prime target now.

The U23 team will gather in early September and take part in a training course in Hungary from September 12-23. They will fly to Myanmar to have a friendly match with the hosts on November 15.

Then the team will compete at the Binh Duong Cup, before returning to Myanmar to set off on their quest for a SEA Games title.

VFF is currently selecting a new coach to lead Vietnam’s national team during the three remaining 2015 Asian Cup qualifying matches, and veterans Huynh Duc, Huu Thang and Van Sy are potential candidates.

As scheduled, national team players will be called back in early October and fly to Qatar for a friendly match with the hosts there. Then they will travel to Uzbekistan to compete with the hosts in the first leg of Asian Cup 2015 qualifying round.

On November 4 and 19, they will have second leg matches with Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates at My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi.
