VietNamNet Bridge – The two Vietnamese chess stars Vo Thi Kim Phung and Nguyen Thi Mai Hung are competing in the World Junior Chess Championship which started yesterday (Sept 12) in Hatay Province, Turkey.

The girls section has 75 participants, including eight Women's Grandmasters, 19 Women's International Masters and 15 Women's FIDE Masters. The boys section has 117 participants, including 10 GMs, 26 IMs and 19 FMs.
At the tournament which runs until September 27, athletes compete in 13 games, following Switzerland system.
At the Asian Junior Girls U20 Chess Championship in United Arab Emirates in April, Phung won two gold medals in the standard and blitz chess categories, while Hung placed third in standard chess.
Phung is currently ranked No 48 and Hung No 47 in the world's girls ranking.
