VietNamNet Bridge – Da Nang City’s swimmer Hoang Quy Phuoc won all 15 gold medals of the National Swimming Championships 2014, which ended early this week.

Hoang Quy Phuoc dominated the men’s competition because his two big rivals - Lam Quang Nhat and Nguyen Duy Khoi of Ho Chi Minh City were absent.
During the five-day competition, Phuoc won up to 15 gold medals of the total 16 categories that he participated in.
Phuoc won 11 individual gold medals and 4 team gold medals. Phuoc set a national record in the men’s 400 meter freestyle when breaking his own previous record (3 minutes 56 seconds 17) with 3 minutes 55 seconds 24 and the men’s 200-meter butterfly with 1 minute 58 seconds 71 (the old record is 1 minute 59 seconds 55 belonging to Vo Thanh Nguyen).
The outstanding achievements of Phuoc took Da Nang to the top with 15 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals.
HCM City ranks second, with 13 gold, 1 silver and 5 bronze medals. Hai Phong made the third place with 4 gold, 4 silver medals and 3 bronze medals.
At last year's national championships, Phuoc won 9 gold medals and broke two national records in the men’s 100m free-style and men’s 200m freestyle, helping Da Nang rank 2nd.
After the national champs this year, Phuoc will go to China for a training course under the direction of coach Gao Guishan.
