JCI is more than a certificate

JCI is an international set of standards comprising more than 1,200 measurable criteria, covering areas ranging from medication management, infection prevention and control, and surgical safety to patient rights and quality management.

At Phuong Chau, JCI does not simply exist on a certificate. It is reflected in the details of everyday care: medications are verified through multiple steps before administration; surgical procedures are standardized through safety checklists; infection risks are monitored and controlled throughout the care process; and incidents are reported, analyzed and transformed into lessons for continuous improvement.

Simply put, it is how a healthcare system is designed to minimize preventable errors and place patient safety at the center of care.

But JCI Enterprise goes beyond a single hospital

If JCI represents a standard for an individual hospital, JCI Enterprise represents a standard for an entire healthcare system.

This means quality cannot depend solely on an exceptional individual or a single facility. Hospitals across the system operate under a shared framework of quality governance, safety principles and a unified culture of continuous improvement.

Whether a patient receives care in Can Tho, Soc Trang, Sa Dec or Ho Chi Minh City, Phuong Chau’s goal is to provide consistency in the quality and safety of care.

That is the value of JCI Enterprise: not simply building one good hospital, but building a good healthcare system.

A journey that did not begin with accreditation

Phuong Chau’s journey was built over many years.

In 2022, Phuong Chau International Hospital Can Tho achieved JCI accreditation. By 2024, Phuong Chau International Hospital Soc Trang and Phuong Nam Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City had also achieved JCI accreditation, laying the foundation for the entire system to undergo JCI Enterprise evaluation.

On December 30, 2024, Phuong Chau Healthcare Group became the first healthcare system in Vietnam and Southeast Asia to achieve JCI Enterprise accreditation. In November 2025, the Group successfully completed its subsequent evaluation and maintained the accreditation.

Behind these milestones are years of staff training, process standardization, quality improvement initiatives and the cultivation of a culture of safety - making quality a shared responsibility for every member of the system.

“Quality must begin from the very first moment a patient places their trust in us, and it does not end when the certificate is awarded. It continues through every birth, every prescription, every surgery and every clinical decision we make each day,” said Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Ho, Founder and CEO of Phuong Chau Healthcare Group.

Not for the title, but for the people of Vietnam

Phuong Chau pursues international standards not simply for a title or accreditation.

It is rooted in the belief that every patient in Vietnam deserves care guided by high-quality international standards, and that where a person lives should not determine the level of safety they receive.

A mother giving birth in the Mekong Delta deserves the same commitment to safety that one would expect from leading medical centers around the world.

For Phuong Chau, JCI Enterprise is therefore not a finish line. It is a foundation for continued learning, improvement and the integration of international standards into every care journey.

“We do not want patients to remember that Phuong Chau has achieved JCI. We want them to feel that they are being cared for within a system where safety does not depend on one exceptional individual, but is safeguarded by the system as a whole,” Dr. Ho said.
