The 17-year-old, world junior No 191 and No 16 seed, defeated No 5 seed Bu Yunchaokete, world junior No 119, 6-3, 3-1 (Yunchaokete retired) in the men’s single final.

Phuong beat No 8 seed Eric Vanshelboim of the Ukraine 6-1, 6-3 in the quarter-finals.

In the semi-finals, Phuong overcame No 9 seed Ki Lung of Hong Kong 6-4, 6-0.

Last week, Phuong also won the Hai Dang Cup in HCM City.
