Musical Journey is the latest concert to be held by Saigon Classical Music Group, featuring pianists Thach Thai Do Quyen anh Le Thi Minh Trang and other young artists at 7 p.m. on August 27 at the Southern Women’s Museum in HCMC.
The show will start with Joseph Haydn’s Keyboard Sonata in C major, Hob.XVI:50 and Frédéric Chopin’s Fantaisie-Impromptu in C-sharp minor, Op. posth. 66 by pianist Thach Thai Do Quyen and followed by Ludwig van Beethoven’s 32 Variations in C minor, WoO 80 and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Dumka in C minor, Op. 59 by pianist Le Thi Minh Trang. The duo will wrap up the first half by playing Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Sonata for Two Pianos in D major, K. 448.
The duo will come back on stage after the break to play Slavonic Dances Op. 72 (No. 2 Allegretto grazioso-E minor and No. 7 Presto-C major) by Antonín Dvořák. Cellist Lai Huy Hoang and pianist Minh Trang will join the performance of Sicilienne, Op. 78 in G minor by Gabriel Fauré while pianist Do Quyen and violinist Ho Dang Hoi will perform Antonio Vivaldi’s Violin Concerto in F minor, RV 297 'L'inverno'.
Trang will accompany soprano Huynh Ha Thu Thao in a performance of Gioachino Rossini’s Aria "Una voce poco fa", from "Baber of Serville." Violinist Hoi and pianist Quyen will perform Frédéric Chopin’s Nocturne in C-sharp minor.
Vu hoi dem ram (dancing in a full-moon night) by local composer Hoang Cuong will be the last piece of the show via the performance of Trang and Quyen.
Due to limited seats, spectators are advised to register in advance via info@saigonclassical.vn. The organizer calls for a minimum donation of VND50,000 to help maintain their operations.
The event will take place at 202 Vo Thi Sau Street in HCMC’s District 3.
