Overseas Vietnamese pianist Mai Charissa is set to take the stage for a solo concert performing well-known classical pieces by Beethoven, Elgar and Chopin at the L’Espace French Cultural Centre in Hanoi at 8pm on September 12.

Mai Charissa was born in 1996 to a Vietnamese mother and British father and began learning to play piano in France at the age of five.
After that, she continued her studies under the guidance of famous pianists in Thailand and artist Pham Trong Chuong from the Hanoi College of the Arts.
She was taught by renowned soloist Jean-Gabriel Ferlan at the Vannes Academy of Music in France from 2008 to 2014; after which she took part in master-classes under the direction of Colin Stone at the Royal Academy of Music in London, England.
Before the age of 15, Mai Charissa had won two national musical awards in Thailand as well as graduated from the Royal Academy of Music. Since 2008, the young talent has performed at numerous concerts in France and Britain as well as a number of charity performances along with famous Japanese pianist Yuko Donada and pianist-fantasist Pierre-Yves Plat.
In May 2012, Mai Charissa joined a piano and violin concert along with other musical talents from the Vietnam National Academy of Music in Hanoi, delighting classical music lovers in the capital city.
Currently, in addition to study of Middle Eastern research and language at the Trinity College under the University of Cambridge, Mai Charissa is taking several advanced courses for pianists to further improve her performance skills.
Before the performances in Hanoi, she will attend the Beethoven Festival in Bonn city, Germany. Her solo concert at L’Espace is expected to bring wonderful moments to audiences.
