VietNamNet Bridge - A number of half-built bridges in HCM City have led to budget losses and affected the lives of local people.
The construction of Phuoc Loc Bridge on Dao Su Tich Road in Nha Be District started three years ago and it is still like this at present.
The construction has been canceled for a long time and nobody knows when the project will be resumed.
Under the bridge pier are many old houses.
Local people say the project has been canceled while the roads to the bridges have been completed. The old bridge has degraded and cars have been banned from crossing the bridge.
Mr. Ho Vu Manh Cuong, Vice President of Phuoc Kien Commune, Nha Be District, explained that the project was canceled because of site clearance problems. Some families have not handed over their land to the project because they disagree with the compensation rate.
Ms. Huynh Thi Thu Nga, a local resident, says the project has been canceled for a year. Local people are waiting for the new compensation policy.
In Hiep Phuoc commune of Nha Be District, Kenh Lo Bridge is also half-done. The project to upgrade and expand Nguyen Van Tao Road and build Kenh Lo Bridge started four years ago and was expected to be completed within 18 months.
The project was cancelled in October 2013, also because of site clearance and land compensation problems.
This is a dangerous playground for kids.
Tan Tao Bridge which connects Binh Tan and Binh Chanh districts has been completed.
But the road to the bridge in Binh Chanh District has not been built.
The road to the bridge in Binh Tan district has been completed, but it has not been connected to the bridge yet.
This project was canceled because of a lack of funding.
