VietNamNet Bridge - The entire 55-km HCM City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay highway will open to traffic on February 8. Contractors are rushing to complete the final tasks.

The construction of the HCM City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay started in October 2009, with 4 lanes and designed speed of 120 km/h, with a total investment of more than VND20.6 trillion ($1.03 billion).

The project is divided into two phases, with 23.9km being built in the first phase and put into operation in January 2014. The road helps shorten the distance from HCM City to Vung Tau to 95 km, with a traveling time of about one hour 20 minutes instead of 120 km and 2 hours and 30 minutes.

The first phase is the most complex of the entire project as it includes up to 11.5 km of bridges and viaducts.

The second phase of the project starts from Long Thanh to Dau Giay in Dong Nai province, totaling 31.1 km long.

Workers work on the last items to prepare for the opening on February 8.

Once the entire road opens for traffic, the distance from Ho Chi Minh City to Dau Day will be only 50 km, with a travel time of one hour, instead of 70 km and 3 hours due to frequent traffic jams.

According to the Vietnam Express Company (VEC), the HCM City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway is the most modern road in Vietnam today.

Traffic on this highway will be also managed by modern techniques.
