Every Saturday night a free playground for kids is set up on Dao Duy Tu Street in the Old Quarter, with about 30 different pieces of equipment and other things to keep the kids occupied.

All of the wheels, wooden boards, bamboo sticks, and springs have been modified and joined together to create see-saws, slides and other equipment, bringing laughter to kids all around.

The playground is part of the Play Street project, run by Think Playgrounds. “The playground shows how much demand there is among kids for places to play,” said Mr. Nguyen Quoc Dat, Founder of Think Playgrounds. “The really do need playgrounds.”

The playground uses recycled and cheap materials to minimize cost.

Think Playgrounds is a volunteer group that focuses on building free playgrounds for kids, as there is not much space for them to play nowadays. This particular project will finish at the end of June and the group will move on to other projects, with plans to open similar playgrounds in other areas. Previous projects were in Quang Ngai, Son La, and Lao Cai.

There is a variety of toys with diverse forms. They are aesthetic, stimulating children's imagination.         The space dedicated to little painters. There are traditional games such as stilt. Children playing on a swing.
