VietNamNet Bridge – A play titled Science Theatre – An Amazing Battle will raise awareness of many health and hygiene issues among 20,000 underprivileged children in Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta and HCM City.

The play is part of an effort to communicate scientific facts and concepts effectively to kids.

This play, staged in HCM City and select Mekong Delta localities in the coming two months, will focus on the sources of enteric diseases, good food-hygiene practices and proper antibiotic usage.

The educational programme is an initiative of the Training and Public Engagement team of the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit in collaboration with the HCM City-based Thai Duong Theatre Company (IDECAF).

Children at 30 primary schools in HCM City have had fun and learnt important health and hygiene practices through the play since it was launched last year.

Singaporean real estate company CapitaLand has pledged to support the programme with a US$2,000 donation this year.

Kungfu Panda 3D to hit screens in Viet Nam

Po, the lovable panda, will be back to entertain Vietnamese kids on Children's Day, and, in his new avatar, will be seen in 3D.

In a sequel to the 2009 blockbuster Kungfu Panda, Po tries to trace his origin and thwart Crown Prince Shen's plot to subjugate China.

The honest, straightforward, but clumsy panda and his five kungfu comrades will travel over spectacular landscapes and splendid cities and temples in ancient China to pit their skills against Shen, who is a cunning peacock driven by ambition.

Po's kungfu skills face their greatest challenge yet: unstoppable killing machines that breathe fire balls and metals capable of neutralising any kungfu style.

Though Po is a kungfu master, he has to learn to control his restless mind and achieve inner peace as a prerequisite to overpowering Shen's fatal weaponry.

Produced by Dreamworks studio, the film has been dubbed by A-list stars including Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dustin Hoffman, Lucy Liu, and Gary Oldman among others.

It is slated for release tomorrow at Megastar Cineplexes around the country.
