The Vietnamese players who suffered food poisoning were mainly cyclists. However, their names haven't been revealed.

This incident has got the Singapore SEA Games Organising Committee (Singsoc) and leaders of sport delegations very worried.

According to straitstimes.com, the Singapore SEA Games Organising Committee (Singsoc) said in a statement that it had received a report about some players suffering from a bout of diarrhoea.

Singsoc said it was investigating the matter with the relevant authorities and reinforcing hygienic practices.

Among those affected were Singapore's cyclist Dinah Chan, who lost her women's individual time-trial crown and had to settle for the bronze medal. At the 2013 edition in Myanmar, the 29-year-old was forced to pull out of the women's 100km/128km individual road race, also to food poisoning.

This is the second case of food poisoning to affect a major sports event hosted by Singapore. At the 2010 Youth Olympic Games (YOG), 21 members of the YOG organising committee workforce also suffered food poisoning.
