Bilateral trade was nearly US$6 billion last year, with Germany as the biggest trade partner of Viet Nam in Europe, and the number of German investors in Viet Nam was rapidly increasing, said Dung.
In that spirit, the Prime Minister affirmed Viet Nam would do its utmost to work with Germany to speed up bilateral relations, especially in economy, trade, investment, education and training.
He said the Government would create favourable conditions to help German investors effectively invest in Viet Nam.
Dung also welcomed the imminent official visit of German Prime Minister A.Merkel to Viet Nam. He said he believed that the visit would be the impetus bringing the two sides' relations to a new height.
The German ambassador said he believed the relations between the two countries would continue developing in the time to come, especially with increasing investment and major projects including the second metro line and the Viet Nam-German university in HCM City.
