PM highlights role of social network

PM Nguyen Tan Dung asked for updating formal information on social networks such as Facebook in the context of booming new technology and people’s increasing demands for information and news.

The PM made that statement at a conference held in Ha Noi on January 15 to review the Government Office’s performance in 2014 and launch tasks for 2015.

Currently, millions of Vietnamese are using social networks, said the PM, adding that these sites or the Internet are regarded as sharper communication tools than conventional methods.

Proactively providing formal, updated and transparent information is an effective measure to reject wrongful information, he stressed.

Functional agencies should make full use of social networking services and the Internet to effectively direct and monitor their activities, added PM Dung.

Uruguay’s top legislator to visit Vietnam

A delegation from the Chamber of Representatives of Uruguay led by its Speaker Anibal Pereyra will pay an official visit to Vietnam from January 18-22.

The visit is made at the invitation of Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, announced the NA Committee for External Relations on January 15.

Cuba values Vietnam’s reform experience

Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Duong Minh met with Minister of Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces Leopoldo Cintra Frias, during which the latter spoke highly of Vietnam’s reform experience.

Visiting the Vietnamese embassy in Havana on January 14, the Cuban official stated that the shared experience will be of great help for the Caribbean country during as it works to modify its development model.

Invoking memories from his visit to Vietnam during last December, he said he believes the visit was successful in further bolstering the special friendship and comprehensive partnership between the two nations.

For his part, Ambassador Duong Minh expressed strong appreciation for the solidarity and effective support that the Party, State, people, and soldiers of Cuba have given to Vietnam during its past struggle for independence and current national construction and defence.

He briefed the guest on current political, socio-economic and security-defence situations in Vietnam, as well as discussion outcomes from the recent Party Central Committee’s 10 th session.

The diplomat also vowed to do his utmost to further promote cooperation between the two countries across all fields, to the mutual benefit of both nations.

NA Chairman calls for greater judicial role

Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Sinh Hung has urged the judiciary to promote its key role in implementing and popularising the Constitution and thus enhancing social respect for law.

The Chairman made the statement at a national conference to review judicial implementations in 2014 and launch 2015 tasks in Hanoi on January 15.

He also asked the sector to continue monitoring the entire legal system and to make timely amendments, supplements, dismissals or promulgations of legal documents in line with the Constitution.

He affirmed that the 2013 Constitution has laid a political and legal foundation for the country to enter in the next level of development.

The sector is requested to enhance inspections, monitoring, and state management over the development and promulgation of legal documents in close partnership with legal enforcement, while simultaneously accelerating administrative reform, social involvement, and technological application.

According to Dinh Trung Tung, Deputy Minister of Justice, so far more than 100,000 legal documents have been examined, hundreds of others have been replaced, amended or simplified, and initiatives on administrative reform have proven effective, contributing to high quality of life and socio-economic development in the country.

Consultation for national socio-economic development highlighted

Le Hong Anh has asked provincial and municipal leaders to improve the efficiency of socio-economic consultation and improve the capacity of responsible cadres.

Speaking at a consultation meeting on the socio-economic situation hosted by the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission in Hanoi on January 15, Anh said the Vietnamese economy has developed rapidly after 30 years of renewal.

Socio-economic consultation has become more important now that Vietnam is pushing ahead with global economic integration, reforming its economy, and restructuring its growth model.

It is necessary to organize more training and consultation exchanges for cadres of Party Committees, cities, and the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission to improve their capacity in doing research and giving advice on socio-economic issues.
