The center, as a part of the World Economic Forum's network, marks a significant milestone in Vietnam's commitment to embracing global industrial trends and deepening its scientific and technological capacities for sustainable development.

On the morning of September 25, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the inauguration of the C4IR Ho Chi Minh City located in the High-Tech Park, Thu Duc City.

This event was part of the Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum 2024, themed “Industrial Transformation: A New Momentum for Sustainable Development in HCMC.”

Joining the Prime Minister at the inauguration were Nguyen Van Nen - Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee, Phan Van Mai - Chairman of the HCMC People's Committee, leaders from various ministries, agencies, representatives from the World Economic Forum, and the C4IR center of Malaysia.

C4IR in Ho Chi Minh City is the second center in Southeast Asia (after Malaysia) and the 19th globally in the network of the World Economic Forum (WEF). It officially started operations on September 24, 2024.

After the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with the founding members of C4IR in Ho Chi Minh City.

He praised the cooperation process between the WEF and the Vietnamese government, highlighting the C4IR in HCMC as a result of this growing relationship.

The Prime Minister acknowledged the proactive efforts of the HCMC People's Committee's leaders and expressed gratitude to the WEF leaders, especially Professor Klaus Schwab - the founder of the WEF, and the founding and international partners for supporting Vietnam in establishing C4IR in HCMC.

Six key significances outlined by the Prime Minister

1. Implementation of Party Directives: Actualizing the Party's policies on science, technology, and innovation, and applying the achievements of the fourth industrial revolution to drive industrialization and modernization as per the resolutions of the 13th Party Congress.

2. Meeting Objective Requirements: Responding to the practical development needs of the country.

3. Contributing to Deep Integration: Facilitating extensive integration in science, technology, and innovation, and engaging in the global industrial revolution.

4. Demonstrating HCMC’s Leadership: Showcasing Ho Chi Minh City as a leader in economics, finance, culture, education, science, technology, and innovation nationally and regionally.

5. Reflecting National Pride and Aspiration: Representing the aspirations and pride of the nation, affirming the Vietnamese people's intellect, resilience, and innovative spirit.

6. Affirming Strong Relations with WEF: Solidifying the committed relationship between Vietnam and the WEF with a pragmatic approach to execution.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of ensuring that the center operates effectively, enhancing its role, and highlighted the government's responsibility to guide, create policies, and provide conditions for the center’s success.

He expressed his trust and hopes for C4IR in HCMC through the words: “Pioneering, cooperating, connecting, digitalizing, greening, practical, effective, spreading, for the country, for the people.”

The center includes ten founding members, among them are National University of Ho Chi Minh City, the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park, Saigon University of Technology, Viettel Group, Sovico Group, and CMC Corporation.

C4IR in HCMC will serve as a hub for research collaboration, policy proposal, resource mobilization, and technology transfer in industrial transformation. It operates autonomously, similar to a corporate entity, under the management of the HCMC People's Committee.
