VietNamNet Bridge – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc on May 26 met with Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Angel Gurria, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Christine Lagarde, Governor of Aichi prefecture Hideaki Omura and leaders of some Japanese large corporations on the sidelines of his working visit to Japan.

At the meeting with the Secretary General of the OECD, the PM affirmed that Viet Nam attaches importance to the cooperation with the OECD bilaterally and regionally, adding that in the future, the nation will enhance the economic restructuring in accordance with renewing the growth model, increasing the quality and effectiveness and competitiveness of the economy.

The PM asked for further assistance for Viet Nam in several areas such as improving the efficiency of using official development assistance, investment policy and environment, green growth and climate change response, sustainable agriculture and workforce development.

Mr. Gurria hailed Viet Nam’s efforts in socio-economic development process, committing to helping Viet Nam train a contingent of high-quality workers and successfully performing its role as APEC Chair 2017.

During a meeting with Managing Director of the IMF Christine Lagarde, the two sides lauded the effective and realistic developments in the their relations, especially after Ms. Christine Lagarde’s visit to Viet Nam in March, agreeing to strengthen the relationship in the future.

PM Phuc expected to receive more support and assistance from the IMF for Viet Nam in stabilizing the macro-economy and economic reform.

Both sides agreed to intensify joint work in developing a green growth model, sustainable growth and renewable energy.

PM Phuc met with Governor of Aichi prefecture Hideaki Omura, affirming that the Vietnamese Government will continue completing legal policies to create a sustainable and open business and investment environment for investors, especially ones from Japan to launch long-term operations in Viet Nam.
