At a reception for head of the delegation of the European Union (EU) to Vietnam, Ambassador Pier Giorgio Aliberth, in Hanoi on November 22, the Vietnamese Government leader congratulated his guest on assuming tasks in Vietnam and expressed his confidence that the diplomat will make positive contributions to the bilateral ties. He also highlighted the EU as Vietnam’s important partner. |
Next year, Vietnam will undertake the role of the ASEAN Chair and serve as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, Phuc told his guest, while voicing his hope that the Vietnam – EU cooperation will grow further in the time to come.
The cabinet leader showed his wish that during the term of the ambassador, bilateral trade will not be below US$20 billion while investment and exchanges between the two sides will be intensified.
For his part, the diplomat applauded the thriving Vietnam – EU ties, noting that this is also a challenge for him, especially in realizing reached agreements and treaties between the two sides.
Regarding the the East Sea issue, the ambassador affirmed that the EU supports Vietnam’s viewpoint on the basis of respect for international law. VOV
