VietNamNet Bridge –A national programme to contain the spread of rabies for the next four years has been put before the Prime Minister, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The US$11.3 million programme will be financed from the State budget.
Rabies is spread from infected animals, such as dogs and cats. It is often fatal once symptoms develop.
More than 600,000 people are vaccinated each year in Viet Nam.
* Landfill site to be dug in Phuong District
The municipal People's Committee has ratified a plan to dig a 4-ha landfill in Dan Phuong District's Trung Chau and Hong Ha communes.
The landfill will receive building wastes from Tu Liem and Dan Phuong districts and nearby areas.
With an estimated cost of VND12 billion ($571,000), the landfill is planned to be completed in middle next year.
