VietNamNet Bridge – The nation has set to obtain an average economic growth rate of 6% per year in 2014-2015, according to PM Nguyen Tan Dung's Government report at the National Assembly's sixth session in Ha Noi on October 21.
Crucial goals
Viet Nam will continue to stabilize the macro-economy, make growth rate rebound and enhance the efficiency of the competitiveness in the next two years.
The country will boost the implementation of the three strategic breakthroughs and restructure the economy in accordance with the renovation of the growth model.
The focus will be given to ensuring social welfare and security and improving people's livelihood, protecting natural resources and the environment, responding to climate change, stepping up administrative reform and the fight against corruption and waste, bettering the business environment, protecting national defense and political security, social order, and enhancing diplomacy and international integration.
In 2014, the nation will pay due attention to stabilizing the macro-economy, curbing inflation and achieving the higher growth rate than the previous year.
Key goals for 2014-2015
In the period, Viet Nam is expected to reach an average growth rate of 6% per year, GDP per capita of US$2,200-2,300 by 2015, the Consumption Price Index (CPI) of 7% per year, and an export turnover growth of 10% per year.
The social investment will account for 31-32% of total GDP.
Jobs will be created for 3-3.2 million of laborers, unemployment in urban areas will be reduced to under 4% and the proportion of trained laborers will be raised to 55% by 2015.
The proportion of poor households will be reduced from 1.5%-2% per year and 4% in poor districts. The coverage of forest will grow to 42% by 2015.
Goals for 2014 include an economic growth rate of 5.8%, CPI of 7%, an export turnover growth rate of 10%, trade surplus of 6%, total social investment accounting for 30% of GDP and State budget overspending making up 5.3% of GDP.
Around 1,6 million jobs will be created and the proportion of malnourished children-under-five will be decreased 15.5%.
Viet Nam will raise the proportion of serious polluted areas to be treated to 85%, the proportion of export processing zones having standard waste treatment systems to 80%, the percentage of people living in rural areas using clean water to 84% and people living in urban areas using clean water to 80%.
