Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has expressed his support to the Chinese province of Yunnan ’s proposal to launch a direct flight to Vietnam and build a cross-border economic cooperation zone, a joint project with the northern border province of Lao Cai.
Meeting Governor of Yunnan province Chen Hao in Hanoi on May 11, the PM said Vietnamese and Chinese localities, including Lao Cai and Van Nam , need to further their economic, trade, investment and tourism links by facilitating transport connections and simplifying immigration and export-import procedures.
Localities sharing a common borderline should hold regular meetings and people-to-people exchanges to raise mutual trust and understanding, he added.
The host also requested sincere and goodwill collaboration for a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.
Governor Chen said Yunnan would do its best to deliver on commitments made by leaders, especially those regarding economic, trade, investment and tourism connections.
He suggested promoting trade through exhibitions and fairs, including the Kunming international fair.
The guest expressed his belief that Vietnam will achieve success on its path to prosperity.
