There are 80 foreign and 20 Vietnamese companies, including large international corporations, on the list. PNJ stood at 41st in the list and 2nd in the retail sector.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Minh, PNJ’s HR Director, talks more about the achievement.
PNJ is ranked 41st on the list of 100 Vietnam Best Places to Work and 2nd in the retail sector.
Q: It is said that employees of the companies in the 100 Vietnam Best Places to Work were encouraged to participate in an online survey conducted by Anphabe and Nielsen. So, can we say this is an impartial result?
A: The 2014 survey was conducted from October 2014 to January 2015 on a larger scale than the year before, with 15,578 respondents from 24 industries nationwide. Of the 500 nominated companies, there are 358 ranked companies which met the requirement of more than 50 employees knowing about this survey and voting for them.
Traditional New Year Meeting 2015 – A cultural beauty of PNJ.
I think this result is impartial, because there are only 50 respondents from PNJ participated in the survey. The highlight of this year’s survey is measuring employers’ brand prestige with their employees’ and others’ opinions.
Q: The survey is based on 46 indicators, which are divided in six groups including: Salary, bonus and staff welfare; Career advancement opportunities; Leadership; Culture and values; Work-life balance; and Company reputations. Which indicator was PNJ most appreciated?
A: In the six main groups of indicators, PNJ was most appreciated by employees for work and life balance.
Q: In your opinion, beside that factor, is there anything to attract and keep employees?
PNJ brought spring to the Central Highlands in late 2014 with heartfelt gifts for ethnic minority people.
A: Yes, I think PNJ also has a friendly working environment where everyone cares about each other, and especially, there is no discrimination between managers and employees… “Common Home” culture – PNJ’s friendly working environment as a family – is a strong bond connecting employees and the Company. On the other side, everyone can debate forthrightly about work to get better results.
Q: So, what will you do to keep this title for PNJ?
A: This title was voted by respondents not only from PNJ. So, we will enhance our remuneration policies more and more to keep and attract more talents, as well as keep making career developing programs. In 2015, we will organize recruitment events nationwide; train management trainees, participate in supporting events with universities, maintain social and charity programs…
Q: Do you think this title will help PNJ in recruitment in future?
A: Yes, of course. The title of being one of 100 best places to work in Vietnam will increase the credit of PNJ on labor market and help us attract more talents.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Minh (4th from the left) received the 2015 HR Director Award on March 18th, 2015.
Q: It is known that you have recently received the 2015 HR Director Award by the consultant company Towers Watson Vietnam. To be the first HR Director in Vietnam companies group a 3 years after the Awards launched, how did you prove yourself?
A: Thirty-two HR directors participated in this poll by Tower Watson – one of three famous professional service companies in Vietnam.
Firstly, I had to write an essay according to their form. This essay helped me reached top 3. Secondly, Tower Watson interviewed the PNJ’s Board of Management about my contributions. Thirdly, I had to pass an interview of a council consisting of well-known CEO of the industry, HR Directors of large corporations and General Director of Tower Watson Vietnam… in about one and one-half hour.
“The most important thing is people will know about PNJ as one of the best places to work which has great investment in human resources,” Minh said.
I was very confident and finally got approval of the council. To achieve this result, beside my efforts, I also had the support of the Board of Management.
Thank you for the talk!
