VietNamNet Bridge – A diary written by poet Le Anh Xuan, who was killed in the war for national liberation, was introduced at a meeting organised by HCM City's Writers Association on Wednesday.

The diary, published by the Letters and Arts Publisher, contains his writing about daily events experienced during the war.

Xuan, whose real name is Ca Le Hien, was born in 1940. He started writing the diary in 1964 when he gave up his job as a history teacher at Ha Noi University (now Ha Noi National University). He volunteered to join the army to fight in the southern provinces.

Xuan is well-known for many of his poems that praise soldiers' fighting spirit and his passion for the country and its people.

The diary was found in his pack after he was killed in action in a suburban area of Sai Gon, now HCM City, on May 24, 1968.
