The Vietnamese community in the UK needs to hold high the spirit of unity and help with the homeland’s development, Politburo member and Standing member of the Party Secretariat Le Hong Anh said.

He reiterated that the Vietnamese expats in the UK and elsewhere are always considered as an important component of the country’s unity bloc while meeting their representatives in London on October 10 as part of his working visit in the UK from October 10-12.

He informed them that relevant Vietnamese agencies are carefully and thoroughly examining expats’ proposals and opinions sent in from around the world for making prompt policy adjustments.

Anh also reasserted the implementation of the policy of safeguarding the national sovereignty over sea and islands by peaceful measures in respect for the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) 1982 and the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC).

Chairman of the Association of Overseas Vietnamese in the UK Luong Son Thanh pledged that the community will join hands with fellows at home in the nation- building process and sovereignty protection.

At an earlier working session with the Vietnamese Embassy there, Anh noted the significance of learning and following late President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example as a long-term work to prevent ethical degradation.

On the occasion, he paid floral tributes to President Ho Chi Minh at New Zealand House built on the ground of Carlton Hotel, where the late leader worked in 1913-17, and Karl Marx at his grave at Highgate Cemetery in London.
