Lieutenant General Le Hong Nam, Director of HCM City Police Department, recently sent an open letter to the public, encouraging them to provide information and images about traffic safety and order violations.

In Tra Vinh, since July 26, the provincial police director has been receiving information and images from citizens and dealt with violations in traffic safety and order via his Zalo account and the hotline 084 345 8484.

Information from people is quickly transmitted to traffic police departments at province or district levels for examination and handling of violations.

In Vinh Long and Tien Giang, the directors of the two provinces’ police have also sent open letters, calling on people to discover and provide information and images of traffic violations.

Colonel Nguyen Hong Phong, Director of the Dong Nai Provincial Police Department, has just announced his mobile phone number to receive information from the public.

The publication of hotline numbers and open letters from municipal and provincial police show the police’s initiative in solving problems related to traffic violations to ensure public safety.

Tra Vinh Police in March set up a rapid response force to fight against violations related to alcohol consumption while driving. People who discover drivers using alcohol or beer can call Colonel Tran Xuan Anh, Director of Tra Vinh Provincial Police, at his mobile phone number to report the violations.

The solution has been praised after three months of implementation (from March 26 to June 26) and has made a great contribution to efforts to ensure traffic safety in Tra Vinh.

The provincial police have handled 53 reports about alcohol concentration violations from people via the director’s phone number. After announcing the hotline, the director of Tra Vinh police has received 1,000 calls and messages.

Anh has ordered an investigation and collection of evidence to prosecute many people in cases of usury in civil transactions, gambling, illegal use of drugs and asset swindling for appropriation.

According to HCM City Police, the work of ensuring social security, order and traffic safety has gained encouraging results. People have provided information and images on traffic regulations, helping raise awareness of traffic participants. However, many traffic accidents still occur, causing death and asset damages.

In such conditions, in the recent open letter, Lieutenant General Le Hong Nam, Director of HCM City Police Department, called on all civil servants, party members and citizens in the city to actively provide information on traffic safety violations.
