Also attending were Col. Nguyen Thanh Hung, Deputy Director and head of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency, along with representatives from the Ministry of Public Security’s Criminal Police Department (C02), the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department (C04), and Tay Ninh Provincial Police.
Authorities provided updates on the investigation into the shooting, which occurred on the sidewalk along Truong Dinh Street in Ben Thanh Ward on the evening of May 21.
According to investigators, the attack left two foreign nationals injured, with one later dying from injuries.
After carrying out the shooting, the two foreign suspects fled the scene.
Immediately following the incident, Ho Chi Minh City police coordinated with specialized units under the Ministry of Public Security to launch an investigation and manhunt.
Through initial verification, investigators determined that the suspects had taken a taxi toward Tay Ninh Province before getting out in Trang Bang Ward, where they temporarily disappeared from sight.
Using investigative measures and tracking operations, police later located and arrested both suspects.
Authorities also confirmed during the briefing that several individuals had allegedly assisted the suspects in fleeing after the shooting.
