Vietnamese football fans took the street on December 7.

Colonel Tran Thanh Tra from the HCM City Police Agency said scouts will be available at public places from 6pm. They will also disguise themselves in crowds to prevent provoking the anger of football fans. The police will not only be present in the city center but also in the neighborhood.

In Hanoi, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Police Agency Le Thanh Hai has also requested all police forces go to the street this evening to maintain traffic safety and security for the game between Vietnam and Malaysia.

On the night of December 7, after Vietnam defeated Malaysia 2-1 in the first-leg semifinal match, thousands of people flocked to downtown Saigon and Hanoi to celebrate the victory. Saigon police seized about 130 vehicles for breaking traffic rules. It was difficult for the traffic police in the two cities to deal with traffic jams and extremists.

In the first-leg semi-final game, some Malaysian extremists attacked Vietnamese fans and one Vietnamese man was injured. The incident raised concerns about security in the second leg game between the two teams at My Dinh stadium in Hanoi.
