Police seize nearly 140 foreign liquor bottles

VietNamNet Bridge – Police in the northern Quang Ninh province have confiscated nearly 140 foreign liquor bottles of unclear origin from a truck in Ha Long City's Dai Yen Ward.

All the bottles were of well-known brands such as Johnny Walker's Red Label, Black Label and Gold Label, besides Robert II. 

 

Hidden in 20 cartons, the liquor bottles were being transported to Ha Noi for consumption. All the bottles were of well-known brands such as Johnny Walker's Red Label, Black Label and Gold Label, besides Robert II.

The driver of the truck Nguyen Duc Khiem said that he was hired to transport the cargo from a liquor shop in Ha Long City to Ha Noi. He failed to present the invoices and relevant documents of the cargo.

The police seized the cargo and transferred the case to the Quang Ninh province's market watch No5 for further investigation.

Two Chinese arrested for drug trafficking

Police from Hoan Kiem District here have detained two Chinese persons from Guangxi Province and two Vietnamese persons for allegedly trading and smuggling drugs from China to Viet Nam.

On Monday, the Police Department for Drug-related Crimes Investigation, in co-operation with the police in Dong Xuan Ward, conducted a sudden raid on a suspicious taxi parked on Long Bien District's Nguyen Van Cu Road.

The police found that one of the two passengers was carrying two packets of white powder. The duo, both of whom come from the northern mountainous Cao Bang Province, admitted that the packets contained synthetic drugs, or methamphetamine.

The two suspects said they were hired to transport the drug to Viet Nam for consumption by the two Chinese men. The police arrested these Chinese men based on the testimony of the Vietnamese suspects.

The case is still under investigation.
