VietNamNet Bridge – A traffic police officer in the northern province of Ninh Binh has been suspended from work one day after he was reported of beating a truck driver on the road.





Earlier, a video posted on youtube showing a traffic policeman grabbing a truck driver by his undershirt and beating him on the head with a baton so hard that it was broken into two pieces.

The incident happened on Tran Hung Dao road in Ninh Binh city at 11am on June 10, and the policeman was defined as Major Trong.

The man, who shot the video, said when he was driving on Tran Hung Dao Street, he saw a policeman signaling for a truck transporting wood products to stop for checking papers. However, when the driver swerved right to the roadside, his vehicle slightly collided with the policeman’s motorbike that was parked nearby. Angrily, the cop violently pushed the driver and beat him with a baton so hard on his head. A moment later, he showed the driver a deformed part of his bike’s exhaust pipe.

The video clip has attracted hundreds of comments on social networking sites. Some netizens condemned the cop’s actions, saying it was an inappropriate manner among public security forces.

Some commented that the driver should be criticized for deliberately crashing his vehicle into the policeman’s bike.

A senior police office of Ninh Binh Province Police Agency, Man Chi Nguyen, told VNExpress that major Trong had been suspended for investigation. Nguyen stressed that the agency would seriously punish the violator.

On June 24, in Van Giang District of Hung Yen province, three traffic policemen were suspended on accusations of beating a woman unconscious with a baton.
