As part of his official visit to Vietnam, Prime Minister Donald Tusk and a high-level Polish delegation toured Hoi An Ancient Town in Da Nang City on the morning of October 24.
Welcoming and accompanying the delegation were Da Nang Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vietnamese Ambassador to Poland Ha Hoang Hai and Joanna Skoczek, Chargé d'Affaires of the Polish Embassy in Vietnam.
During the visit, Tusk and his delegation walked through Hoi An's historic streets, stopping at Cam Pho Communal House, the Cantonese Assembly Hall and the Japanese Covered Bridge.
The delegation explored the distinctive cultural, historical and architectural heritage of the ancient trading town, one of Vietnam's best-known heritage destinations.
The Polish prime minister also visited Kazik Park, where he laid flowers at the monument dedicated to Polish architect Kazimierz Kwiatkowski (1944-1997), affectionately known as Kazik.
Kwiatkowski spent many years working in Vietnam and made significant contributions to the research, restoration and preservation of the country's historical and cultural monuments.
His work was particularly important in protecting Hoi An Ancient Town and the My Son temple complex, two of central Vietnam's most celebrated heritage sites.
In recognition of his contributions, Hoi An authorities established Kazik Park in 2007 at 138 Tran Phu Street, in the heart of the ancient town.
A bust of the late Polish architect was also installed in the park to commemorate his lasting legacy in Vietnam's heritage conservation efforts.
During his walk through Hoi An, Tusk also watched traditional cultural performances and interacted with local residents and international visitors.
Earlier, on the evening of October 23, the Polish prime minister and his high-level delegation arrived in Da Nang ahead of their official visit to Vietnam from October 24 to 26.
The visit is taking place at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung.
