A Joint Statement on a US-Vietnam Framework for an Agreement on Reciprocal, Fair, and Balanced Trade was announced on October 26, on the occasion of President Donald Trump's and PM Pham Minh Chinh’s attendance at the 47th ASEAN Summit in Malaysia.

Research vessel Akademik Lavrentyev arrived at Cam Ranh Port on October 24, launching the second joint marine survey by Vietnam and Russia’s science academies.
