Anaya said that the book has been updated and reprinted in Spanish from the original, which was published by the Cuba Communist Party in 1973.  

Vu Van Phuc highly thanked Mexico for the book, and said he hoped this would help to strengthen the relationship between both parties and nations.

The two diplomats expressed their delight at the fine development of bilateral relations as well as the need to promote exchange visits between the two countries’ leaders.

They praised the success of the 28^th meeting of the Vietnam-Cuba Joint inter-Governmental Committee in September in Cuba which helped enhance cooperation in various fields.

The Cuban Deputy FM praised Vietnam’s valuable assistance and support for Cuban people during their war time, describing it as a firm foundation for the two countries to further develop their ties in the future.

Mr Marcos reiterated that his visit to Vietnam aimed to further promote Vietnam-Cuba relations and hoped that economic and trade ties will be expanded, especially in construction and oil and gas exploitation.

Ambassador Kent expressed his great honour and thanked the Vietnamese State and Government for the prize.

He said he considered it as sentiment that Vietnam wanted to present to the UK. He affirmed that he will continue to contribute to strengthening friendship and co-operation ties between the two countries. 

This was stated by Vietnamese Minister of Defence, General Phung Quang Thanh at a reception to Filipino Minister of Defence, Voltaire T.Gazmin, and his delegation in Hanoi on October 25.

Mr Thanh welcomed the delegation’s visit and thanked Mr Gazmin for his support to Vietnam in organising the ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting (ADMM +). He also expressed his sympathy with Mr Gazmin for his country’s losses caused by storm Megi.

Mr Gazmin congratulated Vietnam on its successful organization of the ASEAN and ASEAN + Defence Ministerial Meetings, which he said demonstrated a strong ability and careful preparations by the Vietnamese People’s Army.

The two ministers agreed to authorise relevant agencies to implement contents in the Memorandum of Understanding on defence co-operation which will be signed on October 26 with the aim of peace and stability in the region. The MoU aimed at strengthening exchanges of army delegations, sharing information on anti-terrorism, and search and rescue, and promoting naval exchanges as well as other issues of mutual concern to boost friendship and co-operation between the two countries.

At a meeting with representatives from the two Spanish groups in Hanoi on October 25, Mr Triet said Vietnam wants Defex S.A and Acciona S.A to expand cooperation and investment in Vietnam and introduce the country’s potential to Spanish businesses.

Vietnam-Spain relations have made progress over the past years which have been demonstrated through mutual understanding and a high consensus on views of the International arena, said Mr Triet.

He called on both sides to boost cooperation in economics, trade, investment, science and technology and culture in line with their strategic partnership towards the future that is being implemented under a joint action programme.

Mr Triet also applauded Spanish Ambassador Fernando Curcio Ruigomez’s contributions to developing relations between Vietnam and Spain.

The two Spanish groups are currently cooperating with the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Group in mineral exploration and building the Ke Ga deep water port in Binh Thuan province. They are also cooperating with the An Vien Joint Stock Company in digital TV services in Vietnam.

Mr Fernando said President Triet’s visit to Spain late last year added fresh impetus to elevating bilateral relations to a higher level. Cooperation between Defex S.A and the An Vien Joint Stock Company was a result of the visit. As a result, ministries and sectors from the two countries have conducted exchange visits to share experiences while Spain has carried out economic and cultural projects in Vietnam.

Leaders from Defex S.A and Acciona S.A briefed Mr Triet on their plans to implement new projects in Vietnam in the future.

Nguyen Hoang Hiep, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union said the meeting was part of a cooperation mechanism on youth issues among ASEAN and ASEAN + 3. It aims to review the results of youth activities in recent times and devise co-operative measures in the future.

The meeting will discuss some youth resolutions, review implementation of cooperation programmes in ASEAN and ASEAN + 3 and establish plans for the ASEAN and ASEAN + 3 Ministerial Meeting on Youth in Vietnam in 2011.

It will also consider issues relating to youth in the ASEAN social culture community, including in human resources development, poverty reduction, raising youth awareness on ASEAN, promoting youth participation and responsibility for building the ASEAN Community.

Some plans and programme, such as the ASEAN Youth Leadership Development Programme will also be reviewed, awards will be presented to 10 youth organizations in ASEAN and a plan will be made for ASEAN Programme Fund.

The meeting will close on October 27.
