Vietnam, Indonesia enhance comprehensive cooperation
Vietnamese and Indonesian State leaders have discussed ways of promoting ties of traditional friendship and all-round cooperation, particularly in economics, trade, investment, national security and defence, agriculture and tourism.

Immediately after the ceremony, the two State leaders held talks, during which Mr Triet expressed his hope that Mr Susilo’s visit would contribute to furthering friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
President Triet expressed condolences to President Yudhoyono and the Indonesian people after news of severe tsunami-causing earthquake which hit Indonesia on October 26, causing human and property losses to people in western Sumatraa.
Mr Triet said he hoped, under the leadership of President Yudhoyono, the Indonesia people would overcome this difficult time.
Mr Yudhoyono praised Vietnam for assuming its ASEAN Chairmanship for 2010 and affirmed that Indonesia regards Vietnam as important partner within ASEAN and wants Vietnam to share experience and coordinate with Indonesia to help the latter nation fulfill its tasks as ASEAN Chair next year.
President Yudhoyono invited Mr Triet to visit Indonesia and his invitation was accepted with pleasure.
Deputy PM receives Japanese ambassador
Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem received the newly-appointed Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam, Tanizaki Yasuaki, in Hanoi on October 26.
At the
reception, Deputy PM Khiem affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to
its comprehensive and long-term strategic cooperation with Japan.
He said that the Vietnamese government and people are joining efforts with Japan
to raise their strategic partnership to a new level of development.
He also expressed his belief that Ambassador Tanizaki Yasuaki will actively
contribute to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two
countries during his term of office.
For his part, the Japanese ambassador promised to do his utmost to boost the
Vietnam-Japan cooperation in all aspects, including politics, economics, trade,
security and defence.
State Vice President visits France
State Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan visited to France from October 24-26 after attending the 13th Francophone Summit in Montreux in Switzerland.
During her stay, the Vice President laid a wreath at the statue of late President Ho Chi Minh and visited the Ho Chi Minh section in the Museum of History in Montreuil on the outskirts of Paris. She highlighted the contributions made by international friends in preserving historic objects related to his activities in France.
Ms Doan also met with representatives from the France-Vietnam Friendship Association (AAFV) which aid they would continue to support Vietnam’s dioxin/AO victims.
At a meeting with staff from the Vietnamese embassy in France and representatives from the Vietnamese Residents’ Association in France, Ms Doan briefed them on Vietnam’s achievements in the past as well as the outcomes of the Francophone Summit recently held in Switzerland.
On the occasion, the Vietnamese community in France have presented EUR8,370 to help flood victims in the central region in Vietnam.
Vietnam-Laos special relationship continues to flourish
Vietnam always attaches importance and gives top priority to strengthening its special relationship with Laos, said National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong.
Mr Trong, who is also a Politburo member of the
Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC), made this statement while
receiving a high-ranking delegation of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP)’s
Commission for External Relations, led by Politburo member and Commission Head
Thongloun Sisoulith.
The legislator noted that the Vietnam-Laos special relationship is growing
fruitfully in all fields, bringing practical benefits to the process of national
construction and development in both countries.
Mr Trong spoke highly of the results of the earlier talks between the External
Relations Commissions of the CPVCC and LPRP and applauded their contributions to
the enhancement of bilateral relations.
He also requested the two commissions to work together to accomplish their
assigned tasks, increase the exchange of information, well coordinate in foreign
affairs and effectively implement the already signed agreements.
Sisoulith, who also doubles as Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister,
informed his host of the recent situation in Laos and affirmed that Laos will do
its utmost to bring the Laos-Vietnam friendship, special solidarity and
comprehensive cooperation to a new level.
Party official hails Vietnam-Laos history book
The compilation of a collection on the history of Vietnam-Laos special relationship was of great importance, said a senior Vietnamese Party official.
Phung Huu Phu, member of the Communist Party of
Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) and deputy head of the steering committee for
the project, made the remark on October 26 at the closing session of a two-day
meeting in Vinh Phuc province to review the work’s progress.
“This is both a major scientific work and a significant project in terms of
politics, theory and education for the two nations and the Vietnamese and Lao
people,” said Phu, who doubles as Deputy Head of the CPVCC’s Commission for
Information and Education.
Phu told participants that the book was also aimed at welcoming the XIth
National Congress of the CPV and the IXth National Congress of the Lao People’s
Revolutionary Party (LPRP).
Samane Vinhaket, Politburo member of the LPRP Central Committee and Head of the
Lao steering committee for the project, said Vietnamese and Lao compilers had
showed their resolve and successfully and objectively made a product that met
the set targets and requirements.
Vinhaket, who is also Head of the LPRP Central Committee’s Steering Commission
on Ideology, Theory and Culture, urged the work to be completed on schedule,
helping to strengthen the friendship and solidarity between the two Parties and
peoples of Laos and Vietnam.
