The first Dien pomelos grown in Yen Thuy became available at Longdan, a supermarket in the UK, on February 9. The 11 tons of pomelos were from Hoa Binh-based RYB JSC.

Vietnam’s farm produce exports rose at the beginning of the year after China ended its ‘zero Covid’ policy and reopened its borders. Customs clearance through border gates with China has returned to normal after three years of interruption. It is estimated that each day about 500 trucks with farms produce go through the border gates at Lao Cai and 800 at Lang Son.

A conference on farm and seafood produce trade between Vietnam and China was organized on February 14. Speaking at the event, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan said he hoped Lang Son and the rest of the country will join forces to increase trade exchange with China by 10 to 100 times.

“The Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), Industry and Trade (MOIT) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) are committed to do everything they can to boost trade with China and to ensure that trade of the two partners develops sustainably,” Hoan said, adding that Vietnam is trying to shift from selling farm produce to China across border gates to exporting products through official channels.

Vietnam’s durian obtained a visa to enter the Chinese market after negotiations between the two countries. Though having just entered the Chinese market, Vietnamese durian exporters have had big orders from Chinese importers.

The first consignment of 100 tons of Vietnam’s durian was officially exported to China on September 17.

In October 2022, durian exports to China soared by 4,120 percent compared with the same period the year before, with turnover of $50 million.

Fifteen tons of Quang Tri organic rice will be for the first time shipped to Europe. This is a turning point in Quang Tri’s path to export its high-quality rice to the world market, especially the choosy market of Europe.

Quang Tri Organic Agroproducts JSC and its partner NHP Provide s.r.o from Czechia have completed procedures to export to Europe at $1,800 per ton. The first consignment will be shipped from Da Nang Port in mid-February.
