Siu, a native of the Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands) province of Dak Lak, will sing to an expected audience of 1,000 at the Nguyen Du Gymnasium.

The live show, called Dau An (The Hallmark), will air live on Viet Nam Television's VTV9 and Lam Dong Radio and Television.

Siu will sing around 20 songs by veteran and young musicians that shot her to fame.

Highlights will include the songs Ly Ca Phe Ban Me (A Glass of Ban Me Coffee) and Rock Buon (Rock of Sadness) by talented musicians Nguyen Cuong and Phu Quang.

After beginning her singing career in 1992, Siu, a Ba Na ethnic minority woman, won several prizes at singing contests. She moved to HCM City and performed for urban and rural audiences around the country.

By singing songs in the Tay Nguyen style, Siu became a pop phenomenon, even though she often received mixed reviews.

In 2013, she refused contracts from entertainment organisations and music producers to return to her native land, Dak Lak.

"Returning home was my way to find peace of mind in tough times," said the 48-year-old singer.

For the new show, Siu has spent time on voice training and working on her performance skills.

The concert will begin at 8pm in 116 Nguyen Du Street in the city's District 1.
