Many famous Vietnamese singers make tens of thousands of dollars performing at wedding parties of rich families.
Some years ago, singer Dam Vinh Hung was paid USD20,000 for his performance at a wedding party of a super-rich family in the central province of Ha Tinh.
Singer Quang Le also received the same pay at the same wedding. Quang Le said that this is three to four times higher than the average pay for a live gig in Vietnam.

Singer Phi Nhung often sings at wedding parties in Vietnam with the pay of VND80-100 million. By late 2015 she was paid up to VND200 million for the same performance.
In mid-2015, a super-rich family in Lao Cai Province spent VND6 billion for setting up a stage and paying famous singers at their daughter’s wedding party. The highest earning singer at the event earned VND500 million.
At a recent wedding party of a wealthy family in Ha Tinh Province, mother-in-law presented her daughter-in-law a crown worth 100 taels of golds, equal to VND3.7 billion. They also invited singer Phan Dinh Tung to sing at the party.
However, some famous singers such as My Tam, Anh Tho and Le Quyen refuse to perform at wedding parties, saying that they don’t like to sing at events with food and drink.
Singer Phan Anh said that it is normal for popular singers to get paid thousands of USD at wedding parties. He said he was happy to perform on any stage with an enthusiastic crowd.
