Flowers grown at Tan Quy Dong in Sa Dec District and Cai Mon in Cho Lach District are mostly consumed in HCMC and nearby localities. However, over the years, the two flower villages have also been a venue for many visitors, especially youth, to take photos when Tet (Lunar New Year) comes.

Located by the Tien River, Tan Quy Dong Flower Village is home to hundreds of flower and bonsai species along with a garden gathering over 50 rose species while Cai Mon Flower Village is where tourists can visit thousands of farming households cultivating different types of flowers for Tet such as marigold, bougainvillea, Daisy’s florist, dahlia, carnation and tens of rose species.

A farmer identified as Hai Huong in Tan Quy Dong Flower Village said every year when Tet arrives, apart from getting their flower plants and bonsai ready for sale in the lead up to the biggest holiday, farmers at Tan Quy Dong also prepare to welcome many tourists who come to visit their farms for photography.

Before Tet, each farm in the village can attract over 100 visitors every day but farmers do not charge tourists.

Pham Thi Cam Tu, the owner of a flower farm, said: “Normally visitors come to our farm before Tet for photography, and the more they come, the more bustling the atmosphere is. We do not collect a fee.”

Indeed, the image of young women wearing ao dai (traditional Vietnamese long dress) and posing for photos by beautiful flowers has been a normal sight in flower farms.

Nguyen Minh Quan, a professional photographers in HCMC, said many young people even prepare clothes and hire motorbikes as well as photographers to move from farm to farm so that they can have perfect photos.

Apart from Tan Quy Dong and Cai Mon, tourists can visit Man Dinh Hong Flower Village in Tien Giang Province to take great photos by beautiful flowers in a fresh and green atmosphere of spring in the countryside.
