VietNamNet Bridge - A woman four months pregnant from the central province of Nghe An was electrocuted and died after using an iPhone connected to a battery charger.

Police of Nam Dan district, Nghe An, said they were investigating the death of Ms. Ngo Thi Lien, 24, in Nam Linh commune, Nam Dan District.
According to the woman’s family, at around 6pm on September 20, Mr. Le Van Vy, 48, the victim’s father-in-law, went home and found Lien lying motionless on the floor, with the iPhone 3 plugged into the charger on her neck. Vy picked up the phone and received an electric shock, but was not injured.
Vy performed first aid but Lien did not recover. He then ran out to call for help. However, the young woman was dead, with two black burn marks on the neck. Vy said he angrily threw the phone to the wall and the device broke.
Nam Dan district police have examined the scene to investigate the cause of the death.

"The police seized the phone charger for investigation. Initially, everyone said my wife was electrocuted while she was using the charging phone," said Le Van Quan, 26, the victim’s husband.
Quan said the cellphone, with the battery charger, was the wedding gift of a relative for his wife when they married six months ago. Quan said he had received electrical shocks several times when the iPhone was plugged into the charger.
When the accident occurred, Lien was in her fourth month of pregnancy.
