National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong, who is deputy head of the IPU-132 Steering Board and head of the IPU-132 Organisation Board, stressed that relevant ministries and agencies should quickly work to fulfill their preparation tasks as scheduled.

Focus should be placed on human resources preparations that must meet professional and foreign language competence requirements to serve the IPU effectively, she said.

The sub-committees should accelerate the implementation of assigned tasks to ensure preparations are in progress, she stated.

She also proposed relevant agencies speed up the information dissemination task on the IPU-132 assembly, which she said would be an opportunity to introduce Viet Nam to foreign friends, particularly with regard to the country's integration and development strategies.

Established in 1889, the IPU now has 163 official members and 10 associate members. Viet Nam joined the organisation in 1979.
