As Vietnam prepares to mark the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2026), General Secretary and State President To Lam has signed Decision No. 885/QD-CTN authorizing commemorative gifts for people who rendered service to the revolution.
Under the decision, a gift valued at VND600,000 (US$23) will be presented to beneficiaries receiving monthly preferential allowances, including Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and individuals who have been awarded the title but have not yet completed procedures to receive monthly benefits.
The VND600,000 gift will also be granted to war invalids, beneficiaries entitled to policies equivalent to war invalids, Class B war invalids and sick soldiers with a disability rate of 81% or higher. Individuals affected by toxic chemicals during wartime and suffering a disability rate of at least 81% while receiving monthly preferential allowances are also eligible.
In addition, relatives of martyrs receiving monthly survivor allowances and relatives of two or more martyrs who receive monthly benefits will receive gifts at this level.
A separate gift valued at VND300,000 (US$11.50) will be provided to war invalids, beneficiaries under policies equivalent to war invalids, Class B war invalids and sick soldiers with disability rates of 80% or lower who are receiving monthly preferential allowances. War invalids receiving reduced work-capacity benefits are also included.
Individuals affected by wartime toxic chemicals with disability rates of 80% or lower and currently receiving monthly preferential allowances will receive gifts worth VND300,000.
Representatives of martyrs’ families and individuals responsible for worshipping martyrs in cases where no surviving relatives remain are also entitled to receive gifts at this level.
The decision took effect immediately upon signing. The Prime Minister, the Minister of Home Affairs, the Minister of Finance and relevant agencies have been tasked with implementing the program.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, a total of 1,563,392 people nationwide are eligible to receive gifts under the two support levels.
