President Truong Tan Sang, who is in Jakarta, Indonesia to attend the Asian-African Conference (AAC) 2015, met with leaders and senior officials from Iran, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and Mozambique on April 23.

At a meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, the Vietnamese leader expressed his delight at the initial progress of nuclear negotiations between Iran and P5+1 while lauding the country’s role as the Chair of the Non-Aligned Movement for the 2012-2015 tenure.

The Iranian leader stated that his country is interested in boosting multi-faceted cooperation with Vietnam , especially in economics and culture.

The two Presidents agreed that it is crucial to both seek measures to increase trade and to support businesses of both sides to seek partnerships.

President Rouhani declared that Iranian enterprises are interested in investing in Vietnam and pledged to create favourable conditions for Vietnamese firms to operate in Iran , especially in oil and gas.

As an active ASEAN member, Vietnam should work with Iran in connecting ASEAN and the Economic Cooperation Organisation that groups 10 Middle East and Central Asian countries, suggested the Iranian leader.

President Truong Tan Sang took the occasion to invite his Iranian counterpart to visit Vietnam .

Meeting with President of the Presidium of the DPRK’s Supreme People’s Assembly Kim Yong-nam, President Truong Tan Sang said he is pleased that both sides are coordinating closely in organising activities to celebrate the 65 th anniversary of diplomatic ties this year, including of high-level delegation exchanges.

Kim Yong-nam said his country attaches strong importance to developing traditional ties with Vietnam .

Both sides concurred that it is necessary to maintain delegation exchanges at all levels and utilise the Inter-Government Committee mechanism. They discussed ways to ramp up economic and trade collaboration.

The two leaders also agreed to continue close coordination at multilateral forums, especially the Non-Aligned Movement.

President Truong Tan Sang affirmed that Vietnam consistently supports a Korean Peninsula of peace and stability without nuclear weapons, as well as dialogues for mediation, cooperation and unity between the two Koreas .

During a meeting with Mozambique Foreign Minister Oldemiro Baloi, the Vietnamese State leader congratulated the FRELIMO Party on its success in the 2014 election. He pointed to the need for both sides to increase their affiliation in trade, telecommunications, agriculture, healthcare, education and human resource development.

Baloi said Mozambique has been developing with an economic growth of about 7.2 percent. He appreciated the Joint Committee’s effective operations last year, creating momentum for the promotion of bilateral partnership in both public and private sectors.

The Mozambique Foreign Minister thanked Vietnam for its assistance in agriculture, adding that the Vietnamese Viettel Group’s telecommunications investment in his country have yielded good results.

President Truong Tan Sang proposed the two countries continue working closely and support one another at international forums.

Vietnam is ready to share its socio-economic development experience with Mozambique, he added, expressing his hope that Mozambique would continue facilitating Vietnamese investment in the country for mutual benefit.
