VietNamNet Bridge – President Nguyen Minh Triet on seperate occasions yesterday, June 1, received the newly accredited ambassadors from South Korea, Ha Chan Ho; the Republic of Moldova, Anatolie Urecheanu; and the Republic of Burundi, Gasunzu Pascal.

Triet was full of praise for the fine and comprehensive relationships between Viet Nam and the three countries and reiterated Viet Nam's determination to promote her relations with them, particularly in the areas of economics, trade and investment.

Triet told South Korean Ambassador Ha Chan Ho that Viet Nam wanted South Korea to continue to be the leading investor in the country.

"Around 100,000 South Korean people live and work in Viet Nam and the same number of Vietnamese people do the same in South Korea, including 35,000 Vietnamese women who are married to South Korean men," said Triet.

He expressed his hope that both the Vietnamese and South Korean governments would facilitate conditions for citizens of their respective countries to integrate into the places they live and work.

Ambassador Ha Chan Ho said in 2012 the two countries would celebrate the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations – a mile stone in the fine development between the two nations.

He promised to do his best to take the strategic co-operation between the two countries to a higher level.

He reiterated his government's commitment to give further support to Vietnamese women who were married to Korean men, helping them to integrate by giving them language and cultural training, while adopting specific measures to protect them.

During the reception for the Moldovan Ambassador, President Triet said the fine relationship enjoyed by the two nations had contributed to comprehensive co-operation between the two countries in all domains including politics, diplomatics, economics, trade, culture and education.

Ambassador Urecheanu told his host that he wanted to see more Vietnamese merchandise available in Europe, particularly in Moldova.

"Bilateral trade between the two countries should be further increased in the near future," said the ambassador.

Later, President Triet asked the Burundi diplomat to bridge the two continents and help expand relations between ASEAN countries and Western African nations.

He said Viet Nam was ready to share her experience with Burundi in agriculture, health care and education, as well as lessons learned in the national programme for poverty reduction.

In turn, Pascal was full of praise for Viet Nam's achievements in poverty reduction.

Agriculture accounts for around 70 per cent of Burundi's economy.
