President Vo Van Thong addresses Vietnamese expatriates during his meeting in Japan on November 27

Among the representatives were intellectuals and experts who have been living and working in Japan since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1973. They said Japanese people love Vietnam and believe in the bright prospect of bilateral relations in future.

The intellectuals and experts expressed hope that there would be more connection programmes to bring Vietnamese students to Japan for training, and they are ready to support the training of high-quality human resources for the fatherland.

President Thuong highly appreciated significant contributions to Vietnam – Japan relations of generations of Vietnamese expatriates, and hoped the younger generations would build on the success of their predecessors, to make more positive contributions to their host country and to the development of stronger, more sustainable and deeper relations between the two countries.

Also in the morning, President Thuong met with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Tokyo. He requested that the Embassy do a better job of protecting more than 500,000 Vietnamese citizens, along with promoting cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchanges commensurate with the good political and economic ties between the two countries.

President Vo Van Thuong is in Tokyo for an official visit to Japan from November 27 to 30 at the invitation of the Japanese State.
