The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just submitted to the Ministry of Information and Communication its "Project on external information for the period of 2013-2020."
This project aims to raise awareness of the importance of the people-to-people foreign policy; the policies of the Party and State on people-to-people foreign affairs for socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security of the Ho Chi Minh City.
Under the project, each two years the HCM City People's Committee will hold the “Press Week” and invite foreign reporters to the city to learn about and to report on the city’s socio-economic situation.
The Press Week will consist of many activities, such as facilitating foreign reporters to cover the city’s important events, to interview the city’s leaders and to visit new urban areas, industrial and export processing zones, etc.
Under the plan, in addition to updating the socio-economic situation of the city in English documents to attract the attention of foreign investors, the city will continue to strengthen trade, tourism promotion and organize cultural festivals of other countries annually.
The city authorities have also asked departments to appoint qualified spokespersons to facilitate the foreign media to visit and find out the areas in which the agencies are in charge of.
