This afternoon, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh formally presented a proposal to the National Assembly to approve the dismissal of the Ministers of Finance and Transport for the 2021–2026 term.
On November 27, during the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly, lawmakers convened under the chairmanship of National Assembly Vice Chairperson Tran Thanh Man.
Key discussions and approvals during the session included:
Amendments to the Employment Law and Special Consumption Tax Law.
A government proposal to continue the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant project.
At 4:30 PM, the National Assembly entered a closed session where Prime Minister Chinh presented a motion to relieve the current Minister of Finance and Minister of Transport of their positions for the remainder of the 2021–2026 term.
After the Prime Minister's presentation, National Assembly members deliberated in their respective delegations regarding the proposed dismissals.
Currently, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc concurrently holds the position of Minister of Finance, while Nguyen Van Thang serves as the Minister of Transport.
On November 25, the 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam held a meeting to discuss personnel matters. The Central Committee reviewed and provided recommendations on candidates for key positions, including: Ministers of Finance and Transport; Members of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Secretary-General of the National Assembly, and Chairperson of the National Assembly Office.
The National Assembly is expected to continue discussions on personnel matters tomorrow, November 28.
In addition to addressing personnel changes, the National Assembly will:
Discuss amendments to the Corporate Income Tax Law and the Law on Standards and Technical Regulations.
Review a draft resolution on reducing Value-Added Tax (VAT).
Vote on a resolution for a pilot program to handle evidence and assets in criminal investigations.
Approve the revised Anti-Human Trafficking Law.
