Prevention of the disease must increase along with local residents' awareness in order to prevent the disease from reoccuring, the Committee said.

More than 700 people were reported to have contracted with the disease since the province announced the existence of hand-foot-mouth disease at the beginning of last month, but only four have died.

The disease spread over 56 of the 65 communes and wards in the province before it was wiped out last week.
