VietNamNet Bridge – The Central Highlands province of Kon Tum and Laos's Attapeu Province on Monday signed a memorandum to mark the completion of border demarcation between the two localities.
The provinces had co-operated with each other to locate accurate positions and erect 33 boder markers numbered from 760 to 792, officials said at the signing ceremony held in Kon Tum.
The quality of the markers had been closely monitored to ensure compliance with standards agreed by both countries, local officials said.
Authorities in both provinces had asked people living along the border to protect and conserve the markers.
The border between Kon Tum and Attapeu is more than 70km long and runs across difficult terrain covered in mountains and forests.
Many of the markers are located at more than 1,000 or even 2,000 metres above the sea level.
