Despite bold marketing, Blindfolded Game fails to draw crowds on opening weekend.
Blindfolded Game, a Vietnamese film filled with steamy scenes and featuring Rain of Fire star Luong Gia Huy, hit cinemas over the weekend but proved a major box office disaster, earning under 400 million VND (approximately 16,300 USD) and ranking just tenth overall.

The film tells the story of Trang, a real estate agent who is sexually assaulted. Fearing her boyfriend Hiep might leave her, she invites him to a homestay in hopes of proposing. There, she is shocked to encounter Long, the owner of the homestay, who looks identical to her attacker. Meanwhile, Long’s wife Ngoc also turns out to be a victim of the same man. As Trang quietly investigates the truth, the situation spirals into a complex web of deception and dark intentions.
The film stars Luong Gia Huy, who recently rose to fame in the action blockbuster Rain of Fire, and Bich Ngoc, best known for her role as Phuong Oanh’s younger sister in Flavor of Friendship Season 2. Despite a heavy promotional campaign focused on its provocative scenes, the film failed to attract audiences.
According to Box Office Vietnam, Blindfolded Game grossed only 300 million VND (around 12,200 USD) from 3,728 tickets sold across 547 screenings over the weekend. Even including early previews, the film’s total earnings remained under 400 million VND, placing it among the year’s biggest flops.
Horror film The Grave Ritual topped the weekend box office.
Leading the Vietnamese box office was horror film The Grave Ritual, which earned 8.5 billion VND (about 345,000 USD). Despite featuring a distinctly local story, the film benefited from production advice by Korean producer Kim Young Min, known for his work on the hit horror movie Exhuma.
Meanwhile, family comedy Grandma’s Gold, starring Viet Huong and Hong Dao, held strong in second place with 6.7 billion VND (about 272,000 USD), bringing its cumulative total to over 74 billion VND (around 3 million USD).
Another Vietnamese release, Mom’s Birthday Disaster, debuted in third place with 2.6 billion VND (approximately 106,000 USD). Haunted House, a film released the previous week starring Van Trang and criticized for vulgar dialogue, dropped to fourth place with 1.7 billion VND (about 69,000 USD). Hollywood thriller The Black Phone 2 rounded out the top five, also earning 1.7 billion VND.
