VietNamNet Bridge – The Ministry of Social, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) is working on a new salary reform project, under which the maxima wage for public servants may reach over VND12 million ($600) per month.
MoLISA’s new wage rate is based on wages for workers at administrative agencies, wages on the labor market, living demands of workers, complicacy of labor of each work title.

A MoLISA’s representative said the new method of calculation can strengthen the competitiveness of the wage system in order to keep and attract qualified people to the government system.

Accordingly, wages for public servants will be divided into three types: the minimum, the average and the maximum levels, equivalent to VND830,000 ($40), VND2.6 million ($120) and VND12.4 million ($600) per month.

The current wages for public servants is VND830,000, VND1.94 million and VND8.3 million ($400) for three levels. The Party Secretary General and President have the highest wage index, equivalent to VND10.79 million ($500) a month.

The new method of wage calculation is scheduled for application in the 2012-2020 period.
