On November 23, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung approved the proposal of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs on the swap of holidays in 2013 for officials and public servants.
As the upcoming holidays have a working day between the holidays--so the exchange of holidays will ensure seamless work in the next week. Specifically, on the New Year holiday, public servants and state employees will have four off-work days from Saturday (29/12) through Tuesday (1/1), but they will have to work on Saturday (5/1) to compensate for Monday (31/12).
During the Lunar New Year, they will have nine days off (9-17/2, 2013) and have to work on Saturday (23/2) to compensate for Friday (15/2).
They will also have consecutive 5 days off for the Unification and May Day (27/4 - 1/5) and have to work on May 4.
The Prime Minister has authorized the Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to announce the implementation of swap holidays and New Year for 2013.
Last year, State employees had their work schedules adjusted to give them three days off for New Year and nine days off for Tet.
