Yesterday (April 1) VFF CC Chairman Huynh Dam handed over a report summing up various views to the drafting committee at a ceremony in Ha Noi.

"People representing all strata of society, from intellectuals, heads of ethnic groups and religious dignitaries to overseas Vietnamese, have contributed constructive, thoughtful opinions to the draft." Dam said.

National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu, who is also the deputy head of the drafting committee, said the people offered many opinions serving the nation's renewal and development.

"The VFF and its affiliates should collaborate with authorities at all levels to collect more public opinions on the draft before it is adopted by the National Assembly," Luu said.

Vice Chairman Luu said the draft committee would instruct the compiling board to "meticulously study and draw from these opinions" to develop complete and representative amendments to the 1992 Constitution.

Draft revisions to the Constitution were first made public on January 2 to seek feedback in line with Resolution 38/2012/QH13 adopted by the National Assembly in November last year.

The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Viet Nam's Central Committee has highlighted the importance of collecting opinions from people of all social backgrounds on the draft amendments.

Directive 22-CT/TW, signed by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on December 28, said that this was an important political activity for the entire Party, people and political system.

The directive aims to promote the aspirations of people of all strata as well as the administration at all levels and all sectors, to contribute to building Viet Nam into a law-governed socialist country of, by and for the people.
